BUCKIE Thistle maintained their 100% start to the Highland League season in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 thrashing of Lossiemouth.

The Coasters could not live with the slick Jags who could have scored more goals at Grant Park.

First half goals from Josh Peters, Sam Urquhart and Kyle MacLeod put the visitors in command.

And although Lossie started the second half on the front foot, with Michael Weir missing a good opportunity to pull one back, Buckie stepped on the gas again when full back Cohen Ramsay made it four-nil.

Jared Kennedy was shown a red card following a second booking for a foul on MacLeod in the 64th minute - a decision contested by the Lossie coaching staff.

Buckie were relentless and piled on the pressure. Sub Scott Adams made it five with only his second touch of the ball just over a minute after coming on.

And Adams volleyed in number six in the 84th minute.

Lossie had relied on some good saves from loanee goalkeeper Logan Ross, signed from Ross County, to keep the scoreline down.

Buckie boss Graeme Stewart said: "We had seven boys missing today. We have good pace and good ability in the team.

"It was a no-lose game for us and there will be a lot of games like that because there is pressure on us. I thought we were outstanding.

"We have at least one gear, maybe two more to go. I don't think we have hit top form yet."

Lossie boss Joe Russell said: "It's always difficult against Buckie with 11 men but it is even more difficult with 10.

"The quality and pace of Buckie, and strength that they have got, you are up against it when you don't do the basics right."

Brora Rangers remain on top on goal difference as they ran out 4-0 winners at Clach.

And Brechin City are the only other team with a perfect start to the season following a 3-1 win over Formartine Utd at Glebe Park.

Forres Mechanics continued their impressive start to the season with a 5-0 demolition of Nairn County at Station Park.

Shaun Morrison helped himself to a hat-trick, with the other goals coming from Connal Ewan and Callum Johnston.

Can-Cans boss Steven MacDonald said: "I am obviously delighted. We got a dream start and really dominated the first part of the game. We created a lot of chances.

"I was really pleased with the way the boys went about it. It was about managing the game in the second half.

"Shaun is doing well and he has worked hard in pre-season. I am over the moon for him getting the hat-trick because he works so hard."

Elsewhere, newcomers Banks O' Dee continued their unbeaten start to life in the Highland League with a 5-2 win over visitors Huntly.

Defending champions Fraserburgh were 3-0 winners at home to Wick Academy, Rothes were thumped 5-0 at home by Inverurie Locos and Strathspey Thistle and Deveronvale shared the points with a 2-2 draw in Grantown.

Turriff Utd and Keith also shared the points in a 1-1 draw at The Haughs.
