Scottish League Cup: Ayr United clash for Buckie Thistle
THE final games of the Scottish League Cup group stage will take place on Saturday.
Buckie Thistle are due to visit Ayr United - managed by Celtic legend Scott Brown - where they will be aiming to give a good account of themselves and, potentially, get their first point on the board.
Manager Lewis Mackinnon was “pleased” with his side’s performance against Dundee United and is hoping for more against Championship side Ayr.
He will be boosted by the return to the squad of Darryl McHardy and Kevin Fraser.
He said: “They will both come into the squad, which is a boost. I’m hoping they will get some minutes towards the end of the game.
“They will potentially get more minutes in the Tuesday night game (against Dundee United B), so that’s another boost.
“We are looking to get down to Ayr and go one step further by turning a positive performance into a positive result.”
Everything is building up to the league campaign for Buckie - who will be making a delayed start to the Highland League.
While the Highland League starts today, Buckie’s first game will be a visit to Inverurie Loco Works on Saturday, August 3.
