THE winner of Saturday’s Scottish Cup replay between Buckie Thistle and Cumbernauld Colts at Victoria Park faces a daunting trip to Kelty Hearts in the second round.

The Jags came from a goal behind to draw 1-1 in the central belt on Friday night and set up this weekend’s replay.

Despite dominating large spells of the game and twice hitting the woodwork, Buckie fell behind when Craig Murray’s well-hit free-kick from the edge of the box found the top corner on 54 minutes.

But the reply was almost instant as Kyle Mcleod pounced on some lapse defending to prod the ball home from ten yards out before the hour mark.

It ended all square and the two teams will go again at Victoria Park, with Buckie looking to overcome the side currently 15th in the Lowland League at the second time of asking.

Jags manager Graeme Stewart said: "We should have got it done on the night.

"We dominated the first half but missed three sitters, so we should have gone in at 3-0.

"In the second half the travelling, playing on astroturf, everything caught up to us.

"When they went 1-0 up we were happy to come back and take the draw.

"We are confident we can win on Saturday if we play how we did in the first half on Friday night."

The reward for the winner is a trip to Fife to face League Two leaders Kelty Hearts, who have many former Scottish Premiership players in their ranks.

That's a task that Stewart said his players will be right up for – if they can see off Cumbernauld Colts.

He added: "We wanted a home draw. We didn't care who, but we keep getting away games.

"But if it's going to be an away game then we are as well playing the best team possible.

"We have a chance of beating them. We can play at League Two level and I'm confident that, if we get through, we will give Kelty a good game."
