Cove close the gap on Forres
FORRES Mechanics' lead at the top of the Highland League has been cut to just one point.
Cove Rangers won 2-0 at Nairn County on Wednesday to ensure the title race carries on.
With the Can-Cans home clash with Keith a victim of a waterlogged pitch, the Aberdeen men took full advantage thanks to goals from Ryan Stott (20) and Danny Milne (58) at Station Park.
Cove could go two points clear at the top if they beat Strathspey Thistle at home on Saturday, while Forres do not play again until next Wednesday, when they are due to travel to Turriff Utd.
However, Forres will have two game in hand after Saturday, with home games against Keith and Fraserburgh to come also.
Mechanics boss Charlie Rowley was a spectator at Christie Park as next week's opponents Turriff beat Huntly 4-1.
Robbie Allan gave the visitors a first minute lead before Neil Reid levelled for Huntly before the break.
However, second half goals from James Duguid, trialist and Dave McKenzie secure the points.
Buckie went goal crazy at home to Rothes, hitting the Speysiders for six.
Shawn Scott and Zander Sutherland both hit doubles, scoring either side of half-time, and Mark Chisholm and Shaun Wood were also on target in the second half.
