The bout was also an eliminator for the British super welterweight title next year.

After 10 wins and one defeat in his first 11 professional bouts, Wilkinson suffered defeat number two at the hands of the more experienced Granite City man.

Sutherland won by a fourth round knock-out after putting Wilkinson on the canvas three times in the bout.

It was the Aberdonian’s 20th pro fight, and his 19th victory.

He retained his Celtic belt and will now go for Commonwealth and British title glory.
