Duffus and Lossie Bowling Club lead the way in Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association leagues
There were some tasty derby matches in the Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association leagues last week.
Lossiemouth Bowling Club’s A team hosted neighbours Lossiemouth in a second division clash.
The home club was dominant in the first session with two wins including an 18-6 success for Alan Smith.
Sandy Wares won a tight encounter 9-6 as the visitors looked to mount a comeback, but Lewis Heffernan took the last game 15-10 to seal a home victory and a valuable six points.
Fogwatt entertained second-placed Forres Victoria, for whom Robert McRitchie scored five shots on the ninth end which proved pivotal as he went on to win 13-11. Paul Rogan increased the advantage for the visitors with a 14-6 success.
Ian Mitchell rallied for the home club winning 15-7 and Lee Denoon completed the comeback winning 13-5 to secure four points for the village club with the visitors picking up two points to consolidate second place.
Bottom club Forres Royal British Legion found some great form at home to Bishopmill, all four skips winning their games with Neil Mathers and Harry Milne the stand-out performers.
Leaders Duffus were on the road at Hopeman B with only three shots separating the teams at the end of the first session in favour of the visitors. The coastal club looked to overturn the deficit in the second session, but Duffus held on in a tense finish to win by one shot and earn four points to keep them at the top of the table.
In the first division Moray Bowling Club entertained bottom club Birnie, where Steve McKidd dominated his match winning 19-3 to give the Elgin club a first session advantage. Neil McWilliam and George Grant won their games as Moray kept up their early challenge for the title.
Leaders Lossie BC were on the road at Lhanbryde with one win apiece in the first session, Andrew Furr for the hosts and Rod Sutherland for the visitors as they took a two-shot advantage into the second session.
Robert Wildgoose overturned the deficit with an 11-8 success before George Jack dominated his match for Lossie to clinch six points for his team.
Hopeman A were at home to champions Burghead with Philip McPherson giving the home club a significant first session advantage. The second session resulted in one win for each team but David Ross’ margin of victory was enough to earn two points for the champions with Hopeman taking four.
Alves took a first session lead on the road at Fochabers, Graeme Taylor and Gordon Gallagher with convincing wins. Keith Lambert supported by Dorothy Wiles turned things around in the second session winning both games to keep Fochabers’ home record intact as they took four points while Alves claimed two.
