Duncan Ferguson has been axed as Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager
Manager Duncan Ferguson has confirmed that he is no longer manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle as the club have gone into administration.
The 52-year-old has confirmed that he has had his contract terminated along with his assistant manager Gary Bollan and goalkeeping coach Stuart Garden on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking on a video interview outside the Calon BBC Sport Scotland social media, Ferguson confirmed that he is no longer in charge of the club.
He said: “Myself and my staff have now left the club. We have been expecting it over the last couple of weeks. This is the cost of administration isn’t it.
“So myself and my two coaches have left as we speak.
“I have done the very best for the club and for my players. I’ve always tried to support my players behind the scenes and they all know that and that is the most important thing for me that I have supported the players.”
Speaking about the administration process and the club’s chances of staying up, he said: “It’s brutal isn’t it? It’s really tough to get a 15 point deduction.
“It all depends now how deeply they cut the playing squad, if they can manage to stay in the division, I think it is possible. I think I have brought a lot of good players to the club and they will be big assets to the club in the future.
“I think the club can stay in the division if they hold on to their players.”
However, he was unable to prevent them being relegated from the Championship, after they finished in ninth place.
They then lost the Championship play-off final 5-3 on aggregate to Hamilton Academical which saw them relegated to League One.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle were deducted 15 points after going into administration on Tuesday night which saw them drop to -3.
They are 12 points behind Dumbarton in ninth place, who Inverness are due to travel to on Saturday.
Ferguson had been working for free after deciding to give up his wage earlier this month to help the club’s financial troubles.
