Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin praises Buckie Thistle after cup victory
Dundee United’s manager, Jim Goodwin, praised Buckie Thistle for their performance in Tuesday’s Scottish League Cup clash at Victoria Park.
The Jags fans had goals to celebrate in the 5-2 defeat, with Joe McCabe’s header and Jack MacIver’s penalty moments for the crowd to remember.
Goodwin, who managed a part-time team himself in Alloa Athletic, before moving onto St Mirren, Aberdeen and Dundee United, was full of praise for his hosts.
He said: "They can be really proud of their efforts. They never stopped running all night.
“It's difficult for the part-time teams. I know from my own experience at Alloa, playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday can be very demanding on the players, especially with the demands of their day-to-day jobs.
"They can be proud of what they put into the night and I'm sure they will be delighted with the couple of goals that they managed to score.
“We wish them well for the season."
