Smart, now boxing at 60kg, was top of the bill in Elgin ABC’s dinner and event at Elgin City’s Borough Briggs social club.

His opponent was Stirling’s 1314 Boxing Club rival Monty Ogilvie.

Both boxers have trained together at the Scotland National Boxing Centre and the bout turned out to be the most brutal the Elgin boxer had yet fought.

Ogilvie was a well-schooled boxer who had obviously taken on some tricks from the pro game and in the second round Smart received a cut on the eyebrow due to a clash of heads.

For many fighters this would have put them into their shell, but it had the opposite effect on the home boxer who upped his punch repertoire in the contest.

Smart was on the receiving end of several low blows and the doctor was called over to check on his cut, yet he still produced an outstanding win in the end.

His victory capped a great evening for the Moray club as they showcased some of the cream of their boxing talent.
