Elgin City defeat Highland League opposition with 5-0 pre-season victory over Keith at Kynoch Park

Elgin City made it five wins out of five in their pre-season friendlies programme with a 5-0 win at Keith on Tuesday.

Last season's top scorer Kane Hester netted his first goal of the pre-season to edge City in front at Kynoch Park.

Rory MacEwan added a second before half time and second half goals by Darryl McHardy, Josh Peters and Russell Dingwall wrapped up the scoring.

Gavin Price's side also won 5-0 at Clach, 6-0 against Lossiemouth and 2-0 at home to Fraserburgh in matches against Highland League teams this summer.

They also beat Peterhead 2-0 in the final of their Borough Briggs centenary tournament on Sunday.

A busy close-season schedule for the Black and Whites continues on Friday with a visit to Forres Mechanics for Lee and Graham Fraser's testimonial match.

City then play Rothes at the Gleaner Arena in Elgin next Tuesday and meet a young Rangers team the following night for Brian Cameron's testimonial game.

That concludes the Borough Briggs outfit's friendly fixtures as they begin the group stages of the Premier Sports Cup on Saturday, July 9.

City kick off with a trip to Ayr United then head to Annan Athletic the following Saturday.

On Tuesday, July 19, Elgin host Premiership side St Johnstone and conclude the group with another home game against Queen of the South on July 23.

League 2 kicks off on Saturday, July 30 with City welcoming East Fife to Borough Briggs.
