Elgin City’s nine-match unbeaten SPFL run equals club record from 12 years ago which was ended by home loss to Rangers side bossed by Ally McCoist

The result took Elgin into second spot and stretched their unbeaten start to the League 2 season to nine games.

That equalled a run of results 12 years ago which was ended by Rangers.

A City side managed by Ross Jack won four games and drew five in Division 3 from the end of September.

The run extended until just before Christmas when Elgin hosted a ‘Gers side bossed by Ally McCoist when the Ibrox giants were demoted to the fourth tier after going into administration.

Despite twice levelling the scores in front of a live TV audience, City succumbed to a 6-2 loss and the undefeated run was over.

This season’s Black and Whites, managed by Allan Hale, will create a new club record if they avoid defeat at Spartans in their next league outing a week on Saturday.

They have no game this weekend due to the international break.
