Elgin City secure October awards double as Allan Hale wins Glen’s manager of the month while centre-back Jack Murray takes William Hill League 2 player of the month
Elgin City have scooped a double in the SPFL League 2 awards for October.
Borough Briggs boss Allan Hale has been awarded the Glen’s Manager of the Month award in recognition of City’s unbeaten start to the League 2 campaign.
And centre back Jack Murray picked up the William Hill League 2 player of the month to complete a great October for the club.
City played just two league matches in the month, winning away at Peterhead and Spartans as well as securing a Scottish Cup victory over Clyde.
The Black and Whites beat Stranraer last Saturday to remain undefeated in the league with six wins and five daws taking them level on points with leaders East Fife.
Hale has been in SPFL management for less than a year after taking on the City job last December after a successful spell with Highland League Huntly.
He has guided the Borough Briggs club to their best start in 25 years of Scottish League football.
“I’m genuinely honoured to receive the Glen’s Manager of the Month award,” he said.
“This recognition is a reflection of the hard work put in by everyone at the club – from the coaching staff and players to the board and our loyal supporters. It’s a collective effort, and this achievement belongs to all of us together.
“We’re committed to improving further, building on this momentum and pushing forward with the same dedication and unity.”
Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said: “City’s success story continues at pace with the club negotiating the first quarter of the season unbeaten, with their streak setting a club record for their performance in the SPFL.
“My congratulations go to Allan, his coaching staff and all involved at Elgin City, on their competitive stretch in the 2024/25 League Two so far, displaying a drive which made him a clear choice for our voting panel to name the Scottish League Two Glen’s Manager of the Month for October.”
Centre back Murray is currently City’s top goal scorer with six goals in all competitions, the latest being the winning strike in Saturday’s 1-0 success over Stranraer.
Last season’s Highland League player of the year with champions Buckie Thistle, the 24-year-old netted 26 goals for the Jags and has continued his fine performances at both ends of the pitch with Elgin.
