The 22-year-old son of ex-Aberdeen favourite Russell Anderson joined City on loan from Cove Rangers late last season but picked up a shoulder injury in this third match for the Black and Whites.

City boss Gavin Price is pleased to bring in the centre back and revealed he also made a move to sign former Rangers and Aberdeen star Richard Foster has fallen by the wayside.

"In the games he was at the club (on loan) Jevan certainly showed us all the attributes that we were looking for from a centre half," Price said.

"He was a great boy to have round the dressing room as well.

"I’m really pleased to get him and it’s another north-based player (Aberdeen) as well which is really important.

"We’ve been pursuing it since the close of the season so I’m glad to get that one done and hopefully it can trigger a few more moves over the next two or three weeks."

Price is also in the market for a left back following the departure of captain Euan Spark to Brechin City, as well as a striker to take the scoring pressure off Kane Hester.

He made an offer to former Scotland under-21 international Foster, who is originally from Elgin and went on to establish himself with the likes of Aberdeen, Rangers, St Johnstone and Ross County.

Foster (36) recently parted company with Partick Thistle but was not keen to drop down to League 2 level.

"We are continuing to hunt for players but there is nothing concrete," Price added.

City's current squad of players have been involved in a fitness programme ahead of the start of pre-season training next week (June 9).

"They are already a couple of weeks through the programmes that they have been doing and following that through the technology that we’ve now got (GPS training vests).

"It’s really good progress, the boys have been working hard and we will be in good fettle when we get going on our first session next week."

Price and former boss Jim Weir, who is expected to remain in his coaching role at City next season, will meet their former club St Johnstone in next season's Premier Sports Cup group stages.

The Black and Whites begin with a trip to Ayr United on July 9 before heading to League 2 rivals Annan Athletic the following Saturday (July 16).

The Saints head to Borough Briggs on Tuesday, July 19 with Elgin completing their group fixtures at home to Queen of the South on July 23, a week ahead of their League 2 opener.

"Geographically it’s not the best group but we will take it," said Price.

The SPFL will unveil all league fixtures for the 2022-23 season on Friday, June 17.
