City manager Gavin Price is also weighing up several trialists for the Borough Briggs club and says he is in the mix for some loan signings from higher-level clubs.

MacInnes (18) spent part of last season on loan at Forres Mechanics from Caley Thistle, who then released him during the summer.

He was interesting several clubs but went on trial at Elgin, impressing Price with his performance in a 6-0 friendly win over Lossiemouth on Tuesday.

That persuaded the Elgin manager to make the Nairn-based teenager an offer and he put pen to paper yesterday afternoon.

“He’s got that hunger about him,” said Price.

“The disappointment from getting released from Inverness has made him determined to get back up the levels.”
