Elgin City defeat Spartans to break club record by extending unbeaten run to ten matches in William Hill League 2

Elgin City broke a club record by extending their unbeaten start to the League 2 season to ten games.

City pulled off perhaps their best result of the campaign with a 3-1 victory away to Spartans on Saturday.

The win took the Black and Whites to within two points of leaders East Fife, who were held to a goalless draw by Forfar Athletic.

Kyle Girvan’s header gave City the lead before a Blair Henderson penalty brought the scores level.

Sub Olly McDonald restored the visitors’ lead with 20 minutes to go and Dylan Gavin netted his first league goal for the club in the last minute to seal all three points.

Allan Hale’s side have now won five and drawn five of their ten league matches.

That breaks a club record of nine league games undefeated which was set in 2012.
