City host the young Dons this weekenmd knowing a win will guarantee qualification into the last 32 with a game to spare.

The European style format sees all 32 teams play six matches each, with the top 22 teams going into the next round of the competition along with 10 teams from the Championship.

As things stand, Elgin City are in 13th place in the Evolution Trophy group stage with seven points from the four matches so far.

After losing their opening match 4-1 to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at home, they went on to defeat Dundee United B 3-1 and Cove Rangers 1-0 followed by a 1-1 draw at Peterhead.

After tomorrow’s match against Aberdeen B their final match will be against Dundee B on Tuesday, November 11.

The teams that finish in the top six of the group stages will be seeded in the last 32 along with 10 Championship teams.

Elgin City will be looking to follow up their good form from last week when they defeated Forfar Athletic 2-1 at Borough Briggs last weekend.

However, they had to come from behind when Jake Sutherland put Forfar in front midway through the first half when he raced on to a ball over the Elgin defence and fired into the net.

But Elgin came storming back after the break and equalised in the 58th minute when Ryan Sargent connected with a cross from Jack MacIver to fire home.

Sargent then put Elgin in front nine minutes later when Sargent was the first to react to a MacIver corner, beating the Forfar defence in the air to nod home and give the hosts all three points.

The win means Elgin are in ninth place in League Two on nine points and nine points clear of Edinburgh City at the bottom of the table.
