WITH the weather warming up slightly and daylight extending, Elgin Cycling Club have announced the recommencing of their popular weekday social eventing rides.

The first ride, which is 27 miles long, is set to take place tonight (April 12) at 6.30pm, starting at Grant Lodge in Cooper Park. Ride distances will increase as the nights draw out.

The rides will then take place every Tuesday, starting at the same time from the same place. Groups set off at short intervals and are organised by preferred speed.

Full details are on Elgin Cycling Club's Facebook page.

The thriving and ever-growing ladies-only group head out at the same time on Wednesday evenings, starting with a 16-mile ride on April 13. Again, distances will increase as summer beckons.

Women's rides will take place on the Wednesday night.

These rides are kept shorter and gentler to help new cyclists develop skills and confidence, as well as experience the joy of cycling in the local area.

All road bikers are welcome to join in at Elgin Cycling Club. New riders are invited to join the club for one or two rides before deciding to join the club permanently.
