SPRINGFIELD Bar and the Rising Sun were the big winners in the Elgin and District pub darts week.

It was finals night in both double start cup competitions, beginning with the Clifton Bar going head-to- head with Springfield at the Bonnie Earl in the Challenge Cup final.

A tight final was expected and that proved to be the case as the teams were level following the doubles sets. The Springer the crucially won the first two singles sets with victories in the deciding third leg from Barry Maclean and Mike Durno.

The Clifton then edged themselves back into the tie with wins for Iain Campbell and Mark Schwarz either side of a win for the Springer’s Lewis Mackenzie to see the Lossie side close to just one behind with three sets to play.

This however was as close as it was to get for the Lossie side as the Springer took the next two sets with wins for David Robertson and Alastair Mitchell to complete the victory, before John Sutherland narrowly won the last set to put a fairer reflection on the match the score.

At the Caberfeidh, it was the turn of the Rising Sun and the Kirkie Bar A to contest the Imperial Cup final

The Bishopmill side pushing into an early two game lead after the doubles, a lead which was then extended by Billy MacLean in the first doubles set.

A nervy win for Kieran Macaulay followed up by a victory for Doug Neary got the Kirkie back into the tie but then some steady darts saw the Rising Sun middle order take the next three sets without dropping a leg thanks to wins from Jim McNair, Stu Campbell and match winner Jamie McNair.

The last two sets saw Rab Thorburn extend the Rising Sun lead before the Kirkie’s Andy Mighten deservedly won the final game of the night.
