Elgin City defeat north rivals Peterhead at Balmoor Stadium to move into second spot in William Hill League Two and finish first quarter of the season undefeated

A vital 1-0 victory at Peterhead saw Elgin City complete the first quarter of the League 2 season unbeaten.

Jake Dolzanski’s first half header took City into second spot above their hosts in a tight match at Balmoor Stadium.

After five draws in their previous six league fixtures, Elgin were desperate to return to winning ways and put pressure on leaders East Fife.

They had an early goal disallowed when Kyle Girvan’s effort was chalked off for offside.

However, three minutes before the break, centre back Dolzanski celebrated his return from suspension with a looping header which found the net to edge Elgin in front.

On-loan Kilmarnock goalkeeper Aidan Glavin made some good saves either side of the break, while Dajon Golding had a strike cleared off the line for the away side.

Despite some late pressure from Peterhead, Elgin held on for a notable victory.
