Highland League: Buckie Thistle and Fraserburgh fight out one of three draws on Saturday with Brora Rangers the only winners at Forres Mechanics’ expense
Buckie Thistle held hosts Fraserburgh as three of Saturday’s four Highland League matches ended in stalemate.
Kevin Fraser, who will soon get a testimonial at Buckie, scored an immediate equaliser at Bellslea Park after Scott Barbour gave Broch a 35th minute opener.
The game finished 1-1 as Buckie climbed back above neighbours Deveronvale into eighth spot. But it was a fifth game without a victory for the Victoria Park side.
Forres Mechanics couldn’t stop Brora Rangers from bouncing back to winning ways at Dudgeon Park.
After their shock midweek loss at home to Clach, the Cattachs were in no mood to slip up again in their title quest.
Ali Sutherland put Brora ahead at the break and further goals by Connor Bunce and Max Ewan made the points safe before Aidan Cruickshank managed a last minute Cans consolation.
Clach couldn’t regain third spot as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Nairn County, and needed a late goal just to rescue a point.
Ben Cormack put the Inverness visitors ahead before Ben Barron scored in both halves to edge Nairn in front.
James Anderson’s 11th goal of the season made it 2-2 in the 90th minute.
Draw number three came at The Haughs where Turriff United hosted Formartine United in a derby clash.
All the goals came in the final half hour with Turriff going ahead through an own goal then falling behind to goals from Stuart Smith and Julian Wade.
John Allan’s 82nd minute goal earned a share of the spoils for Turra.
The games at Strathspey Thistle, Rothes, Inverurie Locos and Huntly were all postponed.
