Everton legend Duncan Ferguson expects win over Annan Athletic to be his last match as manager of Inverness Caley Thistle

Duncan Ferguson says he expects Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s 1-0 win over Annan Athletic to be his last match as manager of the club.

The Caley Jags have already revealed that they will appoint administrators to take control of the club early next week, with many futures in the Highland capital uncertain as a result.

Danny Devine made the difference for ICT against Annan, heading in Paul Allan’s corner in the first half to seal a 1-0 win.

However, it may be that several involved in the result have signed off with a victory without knowing it yet – although Ferguson expects to be among the casualties.

“I’m absolutely delighted with the players,” Ferguson explained.

“They gave me everything, didn’t they? We dominated the first half and should have been two or three up.

“I was really proud of the players because they have lived through so much in the last few days, and with the big announcement on Friday.

“It wasn’t easy in the dressing room, but they did me proud. They wanted to win. To be fair, they’re playing for me aren’t they.

“Obviously it could be my last game. Nobody has told me yet that this is my last game, and nobody has said anything about the squad.

“There have been talks behind the scenes with the CEO, so they will know more than I will.

“I haven’t been privy to those discussions, so we will wait and see what happens in the coming days.”

“Deep down, I think this could be it for me. You fear the worst. You hear what administrators do at clubs, and they can do what they want, so I’m the manager and they will probably start with me.

“If it is my last game because the administrators are coming in, I’m absolutely delighted to get the win.”
