FOOTBALL clubs are being asked to enter this year's Forres and Nairn welfare league season.

Plans are in place to kick off the campaign in April, with clubs from across Moray and Nairn expected to take part.

The big question will if anyone can stop last year's 'invincibles' Elgin Thistle from retaining their crown.

A total of eleven teams took part and Thistle defeated all rivals to posted a perfect record of ten victories and a maximum of 30 points to lift the league trophy.

The cups were shared out, with Forres side Carisbrooke winning the Top Car Cup after a 1-0 win over Nairn rivals Westerlea in the final.

Westerlea were left with the bridesmaid's tag yet again when they reached the Alan Roddie Memorial Trophy final only to narrowly lose 2-1 to Kinloss Sappers.

Also competing last season were Elgin clubs The Vikings, Caberfeidh, Elgin Caledonian, Elgin Albion and FC Elgin along with Nairn United and Forres representatives The Mosset Tavern.

The Forres and Nairn Welfare FA plan to finalise their season's format at their AGM on February 27 with interested clubs asked to register their interest by February 13.
