Forres knocked off top spot





FORRES Mechanics have been knocked off the top of the Highland League.

A 6-1 win for Cove Rangers over Strathspey Thistle has seen the Aberdeen side go two points clear in the race for the title.

However, the Can-Cans have two games in hand and can return to the top of the table with a win at Turriff Utd on Wednesday night.

Keith recovered from losing two goals inside the opening 10 minutes at Wick to earn a point.

Andy McAskill pulled one back on 68 minutes and three minutes later Cammy Keith levelled from the penalty spot.

Richard McAdie and Sam Macky had given Wick the early lead.

Buckie Thistle went down 3-2 at Nairn County.

Steven Mackay gave Nairn the lead on the stroke of half-time but Zander Sutherland (54) levelled for the Jags.

Glenn Main made it 2-1 for the home side on 65 minutes but Hamish Munro equalised three minutes later. John Cameron grabbed a last minute winner for Nairn.

Elsewhere, Deveronvale were 6-0 winners at Fort William, Clach won 4-1 at Turriff and Inverurie Locos and Fraserburgh played out a goalless draw.

Rothes' game at Formartine was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
