FORRES Mechanics will do battle with old rivals Elgin City in this year's North of Scotland Cup competition.

The draw for the competition - which has found a new sponsor in Highland contractor Pat Munro - was made this week, setting up a Moray derby tie in the first round.

Forres will play host to an Elgin side which is expected to be mainly made up of their under-20s squad.

However with Elgin having a predominantly north-based squad this season, they may field several first team players in the Mosset Park match.

Lossiemouth were also given a home draw against Caley Thistle, who also play a youth squad in the tourney and defeated Lossie 6-0 at Grant Park in last year's North Cup.

The winners of the Lossie-ICT clash will be at home to the Forres v Elgin winners in the quarter-finals.

Rothes were given a first round bye and don't enter the tournament until August 21 when they host either Fort William or Nairn County.
