Forres sign winger Macrae
FORRES Mechanics have won the race to sign former Caley Thistle pace merchant Andy Macrae.
Macrae (20) was released by Inverness in the summer and attracted interest from the likes of Peterhead, Elgin City, Cove Rangers and Brora Rangers.
But Mechanics, who had the player on two loan spells from Jags in the last two seasons, snapped him up on a two-year deal on Saturday.
Forres boss Charlie Rowley said: "It's probably one of the most significant signings we've had in a lot of years.
"I just think the aura surrounding Andy and his capabilities, and with somne of the clubs that were chasing his signature it tells its own story."
Macrae had been training with Forres this summer and played in trial games against Airdrie and former club Inverness.
He also featured in a trial match last Wednesday for Elgin, whose manager Gavin Price was keen to see MacRae in actin again for his team's friendly against Buckie Thistle this weekend.
However the player contacted Rowley on Thursday night to confirm he had decided to make Mechanics his next club.
He is expected to make his first appearance as a permanently signed Forres player in Saturday's friendly at North junior Superleague side Nairn St Ninian (kick off 1.30pm).
