Goalkeeper Stuart Knight transfer listed by Buckie Thistle after arrival of Mark Ridgers

BUCKIE Thistle’s league-winning goalkeeper Stuart Knight is set to leave the club.

The arrival of Mark Ridgers from Inverness Caledonian Thistle means that Knight (36) will get less game time with the Jags, prompting him to hand in a transfer request.

Buckie have accepted the request and transfer listed the Elgin-based 36-year-old, who was signed from Forres Mechanics last summer.

In his short time at the Jags, Knight won the Highland League and played at Parkhead against Celtic - where he made a number of impressive saves.

Buckie manager Lewis Mackinnon said: “He has only got a year left and wants to be playing regular football while he’s still reasonably fit.

“He’s won a league title and played a huge part in the Scottish Cup run so it was a memorable season. He’s a gentleman and a great Highland League goalkeeper.”

Euan Storrier may also leave the club in this window. Another goalkeeper may arrive in order that he can go on loan.

“Euan has also expressed desire to play regularly but he's contracted until 2027,” Mackinnon said.

“We are looking to source a young goalkeeper, and maybe if we get a young goalkeeper in to learn from Mark then Euan can go on loan.”

Buckie are back in action tomorrow night when they welcome Premiership side Dundee United to Victoria Park.
