Green grabs crucial winner
RYAN Green was the hero for Forres Mechanics as they edged closer to the Highland League title with a 1-0 win at Turriff Utd.
The veteran striker came off the bench to fire the winner 13 minutes of the game at The Haughs.
Said Green: "It is probably the most important goal I have scored at Forres."
The win puts them back top of the Highland League, a point clear of Cove Rangers.
The Can-Cans can win the title on Saturday if they beat Fraserburgh at Mosset Park.
It looked as if Forres were set for a frustrating night until Green replaced Willie Barron after 67 minutes and bagged the winner 10 minutes later.
A big crowd is likely to pack in to Mosset Park on Saturday to see if Forres can win their first title in more than 25 years and only the second in their history.
Buckie Thistle continued their good run of form with a 2-0 win at Kynoch Park against Keith.
David MacRae fired them ahead after just eight minutes and Shawn Scott added a second two minutes before half-time.
Lossiemouth were just a minute away from hitting the 50 point mark for the season for the first time in 15 years.
Kevin Grant had fired a first half equaliser for Charlie Charlesworth's side, cancelling out Calum Bagshaw's opener for Formartine. However, Daniel Park popped up with an 89th minute winner for Steve Paterson's side.
Inverurie Locos were comfortable 4-1 winners at home to Clach.
