The 23-year-old had spent the last two seasons at Borough Briggs, after joining City from fellow League 2 side Annan Athletic.

Omar was selected in the SPFL League 2 team of the season for his performances, mainly as a wide midfielder.

He will make the jump to Scottish football's second tier next season, where one of his opponents will be former Elgin team-mate Shane Sutherland, who has joined Caley Thistle.

Omar scored eight goals in 53 starting and nine sub appearances for the Black and Whites.

He featured heavily in Gavin Price's midfield in his first campaign, but often fell foul of referees with 15 yellow cards and one dismissal that term.

Last season he was out injured for a spell but returned to make a name for himself with a superb goal in Elgin's memorable 2-1 Challenge Cup win at Championship Dundee.

He also netted Elgin's goal of the season with a long distance chip as part of a double against old club Annan in a 4-0 win at Borough Briggs.
