Hake hits out at Buckie defeat
POOR from start to finish was how Buckie Thistle boss Gary Hake assessed his team's 3-0 home defeat to Huntly.
Andrzej Slawomir-Kleczkowski's double and a late Pat Vigurs header earned Huntly a comfortable three points at Victoria Park on Saturday.
Home manager Hake was angry his team didn't rise to the heights of the previous weekend's 5-2 League Cup win at Lossiemouth.
“Huntly were up for it more than we were and that's the most disappointing thing,” Gary said. “We played slightly better in the second half but it still wasn't good enough, and they wanted it more than us.
“We were poor from start to finish so there will be changes next week.”
In contrast, Huntly boss Dave McGinlay was satisfied his side responded to last weekend's 6-0 derby thrashing to Inverurie Locos in positive fashion.
“We were terrible last week and rightly so we were criticised for that.
“I could have made lots of changes but I went with the same boys and asked them to prove to me last week was a freak result.
“Today we got a performance out of them and a great result.”
Buckie keeper Kevin Main dealt with early efforts by Craig Dorrat and Neale Davidson, but was powerless to prevent Kleczkowski's 18 minute header from finding the net after a great Huntly move.
The visitors thought they had a second when David Booth's fierce drive bounced down off the underside of the bar and appeared to cross the line, but no goal was given.
Kleczkowski added a second on 50 minutes, sliding in to score from close range after Main could only parry a Mike Fyfe shot.
Ten minutes from time Vigurs' header from a corner was adjudged to have crossed the line despite Main's initial block on the goal-line.
Elsewhere in the Highland League, Lee Fraser's second goal in a week was scant consolation for Forres Mechanics as they went down 3-1 at leaders Wick.
Cove thrashed Fort William 6-0 and Clach defeated Strathspey 5-0. Nairn pipped Deveronvale 2-1 while there were three penalties and three red cards as Brora beat Inverurie 2-1.
