A VICKY Helyer hat-trick saw Buckie Ladies ease to a 4-0 win over Orkney.

The Grant Park side travelled to Dingwall to face the islanders on what was a dreich Sunday afternoon.

Matches between the two sides tend to be close affairs and so it was in the first half.

Good work between Lori Lappin and strike partner Jess Moore saw the Orkney defence prised open for the latter player to find the net.

The game remained evenly balanced after the restart but the last quarter of an hour saw Buckie take the game by the scruff of the neck and unleash a devastating spell of scoring from Helyer to register her first hat-trick for the club.

A delighted Buckie Ladies manager Laura Duncan said: “It was a super team performance today.

“Every player worked hard for each other and gave 100 per cent.

“A couple of fantastic crucial saves by keeper Sophia [Golebiewski] helped us keep a clean sheet.”

This coming Sunday heralds the first of an away double header, the first tie being the team’s final game in their League Cup qualifying group and latter marking the last league fixture before the summer break.

Venue and kick-off time remain to be confirmed - follow Buckie Ladies’ Facebook page for updates.
