Hibernian rematch for Elgin City in Betfred Cup

Elgin City have been draw in group C of the Betfred Cup with Hibernian and three other part-time teams in Alloa Athletic, Arbroath and Stirling Albion.

Hibs defeated Elgin City at Easter Road in last year's Scottish Cup.

Both of the Championship's part-time sides, Arbroath and Alloa, join Elgin in the group alongside Hibs, who are back in the group stage of the competition having been in the Europa League last year.

Stirling Albion represent a fellow League Two outfit.

Elgin have won just won match since the group stage format was re-introduced in 2016.

The competition kicks off on the weekend of July 13. match day two is on the midweek of July 16, match day three is July 20/21, match day four is July 23/24 and the final match day will be on the weekend of July 27/28.

Should Elgin progress, round two of the competition will take place on the weekend of August 17/18.

League Two will get underway on Saturday, August 3, with the fixtures yet to be announced.
