Huntly Football Club look to end 17-year trophy drought as they take on Banks o’ Dee in Aberdeenshire Cup final at Inverurie Locos’ Harlaw Park
Huntly will aim to end a 17-year trophy wait in the Aberdeenshire Cup final on Sunday.
The Christie Park side take on Banks o’ Dee in a showdown at Inverurie Locos’ Harlaw Park.
The teams met in the Aberdeenshire Shield final in 2022, with Dee winning a penalty shoot-out after a 3-3 thriller.
Huntly last won a trophy in October 2007 when they lifted the old SFA North Challenge Cup.
Colin Charlesworth side beat Hermes 3-0 and Buckie Thistle 3-1 to reach this year’s final.
They have the league’s top scorer as their most potent weapon, with striker Angus Grant now up to 21 goals for the campaign in all competitions.
Dee defeated Keith 3-1, Formartine United 4-0 and Aberdeen 4-2 to get to Sunday’s final and are also in contention for this year’s league championship.
There’s also seven league matches being played today, with Keith taking on Buckie at Kynoch Park in a Moray derby.
Lossiemouth play host to leaders Brechin City while Rothes face a daunting task at home to high-scoring Brora Rangers - the match at MacKessack Park kicks off at 2pm.
A second early kick-off sees Deveronvale look to add to six wins in their last nine outings when they welcome Nairn County to Banff - the visitors were crushed 6-0 at home to Banks o’ Dee last week.
Formartine United are at home to Clachnacuddin, who sold top scorer Connor Bunce to Brora this week with Andy Macrae making the move the opposite way to sign for the Inverness club.
There’s a basement battle at The Haughs where Strathspey Thistle could climb off the bottom of the table if they defeat hosts Turriff United, who are just three points above them.
