Forres Mechanics manager Steven MacDonald signs contract extension ahead of Highland League start
A HIGHLAND League manager has been handed a new deal as reward for the “phenomenal” amount work he has done.
Forres Mechanics boss Steven MacDonald has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Mosset Park until 2027.
MacDonald has been Can-Cans boss since 2022, with the club finishing 11th and 15th (after a three-point deduction) in his two full seasons in charge.
A statement from Forres Mechanics confirmed his tenure would continue.
“The board of directors has offered the manager, Steven MacDonald, a two-year extension on his contract until 2027 and is delighted to confirm Steve has accepted,” a statement reads.
“This was a unanimous decision and it recognises the phenomenal amount of work that Steve has done since taking over as manager.
“Steve has had to operate in a very competitive field with limited resources and the board very much appreciates the effort he has made with the wellbeing of the club uppermost in his mind.
“We wish him every success and we look forward to the future united together.”
MacDonald’s side get their Highland League campaign underway tomorrow with a home match against his old club, Moray rivals Rothes.
Forres could have winger Matt Jamieson, recently signed from Elgin City, in the squad.
The match kicks off at 3pm at Mosset Park.
