Honours even as Buckie Ladies share the points with Sutherland

BUCKIE Ladies were back in league action again on Sunday when they travelled north to face Sutherland.

Three points would have taken the Gordon Park side above the hosts, but at the end of typically competitive encounter between the two sides honours were even with a 1-1 draw the result.

The first half conditions did not run in the visitors’ favour as they faced the wind. Sutherland made the most of their advantage as Rachael Sutherland struck to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

With Sutherland creating chances, Buckie keeper Sophia Golebiewski showed her mettle, with one superb save in particular to prevent the team going further behind before the break.

The change in ends after half time heralded better fortune for Buckie with a far better display seeing them dominate play.

They were to deservedly draw level when Lorna Young’s free kick ricocheted into the net.

Sutherland had two gilt-edged chances to claim all three points but spurned them, the game finishing in a draw.
