Kyle Girvan’s first half header was cancelled out by a Blair Henderson penalty to leave the sides all square at half time.

Substitute Olly McDonald came on to become City’s hero with a sensational strike from the left corner of the box to restore the visitors’ advantage.

McDonald then capped a fine display with a fine run to set up Dylan Gavin for his first league goal for the club in the final minute to seal victory.

The Black and Whites have broken the record the hard way, with six of their ten matches being away from home.

On the road, Elgin have produced some fine displays with the weekend success in Edinburgh joining victories at Peterhead and Stirling Albion.

They have also drawn at Stranraer, Forfar and Clyde, the latter after playing for almost the entire match with ten men.

Hale’s men take a break from league action on Saturday when they host Clyde in the second round of the Scottish Cup.
