Elgin City’s Kilmarnock loan goalkeeper Aidan Glavin speaks about his six penalty saves against Clyde in a thrilling Scottish Cup tie at Borough Briggs
Elgin City’s penalty-saving hero has spoken about the greatest game of his career.
Kilmarnock loan teenager Aidan Glavin saved a Clyde penalty in extra time and five more in a marathon shoot-out to help Elgin City claim a Scottish Cup win at Borough Briggs.
The 19-year-old spoke in his post-match interview about not having a particular tactic for saving kicks.
“I just pick a side and go for it,” he said. “If I go the right way, I go the right way and if I don’t, I don’t.”
Glavin denied Clyde sub Logan Dunachie with a penalty save in the second half of extra time to prevent City from sliding out of the cup.
He then stopped Clyde’s second, third, seventh, eighth and 12th spot kicks in a dramatic penalty showdown, with Elgin missing four but still going through 8-7.
