Forres Mechanics new man and ex-Ross County player Lewis Mackenzie scores on debut after signing from Clachnacuddin

Scoring on his Forres Mechanics debut was the dream start to life at Mosset Park for Lewis Mackenzie.

The Dingwall-based winger, who came through the system at Ross County, only officially signed for the Can-Cans on loan from Clachnacuddin on Monday morning.

Two days later, he was in the starting line-up - grabbing the third goal in the 49th minute of Forres’ 3-2 win against Rothes at Mackessack Park.

The 22-year-old, who spent six years at Clach, said: “A debut goal - you can’t get much better than that, on top of a win too.

“I did get lucky - the ball took a ricochet in my favour. I smashed it across the keeper - he got a touch on it, but doesn’t matter it hit the back of the net.”

Mackenzie is looking forward to getting back and getting minutes, after having a difficult spell in terms of playing time at Clach.

“It’s been a tough season in terms of not playing,” he said. “So I’m looking to help Forres have a good finish in the league.

“It’s a good bunch of boys. I already knew most of the boys from playing against them and seeing them out and about - so it’s been easy to settle in.

“I’m happy to find myself here. It’s a good platform and a good team. If I had to choose a club to go to on loan - it would have been Forres.

“Some of the results this season - beating Banks o’ Dee, Formartine, Buckie, Brechin - shows there is quality in the squad and I’m happy to be part of it.”
