RAMPANT Rothes could have two new faces in their ranks for Saturday’s trip to Deveronvale.

Ross Jack said one unnamed player will be signed for Saturday and hoped to have another tied up over the weekend.

He is also planning a swoop to bring in up to three more fresh additions over the coming weeks to bolster an already stretched squad.

The Speysiders’ stunning form since Jack’s arrival belies their lack of numbers, with eight league wins and a draw in his nine games in charge consolidating a top five place.

But news that midfielder Fraser Robertson is out for six weeks with damaged medial ligaments, the manager is desperate to recruit.

Lengthy suspensions for Dale Wood and Robbie Donaldson, injury to skipper Jamie Duff and Jack Maley’s work commitments with the police leave Rothes short of cover.

“There’s a couple of boys I want to add to the squad initially and then I am hoping to get a few more in the following week. There’s plenty happening it’s just a case of getting deals over the line, really.

“There will definitely be one for the weekend, maybe two,” he said.

“We had only two fully fit players on the bench against Nairn and three against Huntly so we are threadbare, and it makes sense that we add a few more bodies.”

Rothes had a free weekend last Saturday and return to action with Gregg Main back after serving a one-game ban.

“We’re on a decent run and we want to start the new year with a win if we can.

“The boys are up there on merit but know they must work even harder to keep it going.”
