Jack rallies battered troops for Borders raid
ROSS Jack hopes his crippled Elgin City squad can defy the odds and bust their Berwick bogey.
As many as nine City men could be missing when the Borough Briggs side make a marathon Division 3 trip south to the Borders on Tuesday night.
Yet manager Jack sees the contest as an opportunity for the team to show their strength in the face of adversity.
"It will take a huge effort to get a result at Berwick but its not beyond us," Jack said. "Having our backs against the wall might just give us the spur we need."
The Moray men are without Dennis Wyness and Jamie Duff due to injury, with Ross O’Donoghue and skipper David Niven also likely to be ruled out.
Ross McKinnon damaged ankle ligaments during the warm up of Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Stirling, Daniel Moore and Ceiran McLean miss out due to work commitments while fringe pair Adam MacLeod and Lewis Hallford are also unavailable.
But Graeme Beveridge, who missed last weekend’s defeat because he was working, will return to the squad and stopper Sean Crighton is back from suspension.
Trialist defender Cameron McDonald will also play after scoring on his debut at Shire.
Elgin have won just one of their last ten league games and have dropped out of the Division 3 play-off zone in recent weeks.
They have also never won at Berwick’s Shielfield Park in 16 previous visits as a Scottish League club.
