Jack up for fresh City challenge
ROSS Jack hopes Elgin City's play-off hopes remain alive but admits he could face the sack if they are extinguished.
The Elgin boss told the ‘Northern Scot’ he believes he and his players face uncertain futures at the Moray club, and is ready to issue a ‘back me or sack me’ plea to directors.
Jack, who remains under contract for next season and is keen to commit his future to the club. He is not out of contract at the end of the season as it states in The Northern Scot print version.
The club’s promotion fate will be decided this weekend, with Jack praying for slip-ups by Berwick and Montrose so his team can capitalise with a win at Stirling.
City chairman Graham Tatters played down speculation surrounding Jack’s future, and said his board will meet the manager soon to discuss future plans for him and his playing squad.
Jack added: “If the board and the chairman feel that it’s not been successful then they know I’m the same as any other manager – at the end of an axe, I suppose."
Looking ahead to this weekend, the manager said: “I won’t give up and the players won’t give up. There might be other people who feel like chucking the towel in but not us.”
Stuart Leslie is suspended for the Stirling trip and Paul Millar is injured, meaning Dennis Wyness and Craig Gunn could team up in attack for the must-win Forthbank clash.
