Jack urged Elgin to go the distance
THE “gigantic” prize of the play-offs and possible promotion to Division 2 hangs temptingly in front of Elgin City this weekend.
And manager Ross Jack is pleading with his players to reach out and grab it.
Victory at home to Montrose on Saturday could be enough to clinch play-off football for the Moray club as they lead the race for the one remaining spot by three points.
A thrilling comeback at Berwick last week earned City a vital 3-3 draw, and boosted flagging morale in the camp ahead of their biggest Scottish League match yet.
It is a second chance for the Black and Whites to achieve their dream, after flopping at home to Annan a fortnight ago when victory would have sealed their play-off place.
And Jack is determined to ensure his players rise to the big occasion and reward a big crowd expected to attend Saturday’s match.
“They’ve all got the same understanding of it as myself and Barry (assistant Wilson). We’ve got an unbelievable opportunity here,” Ross said.
“I told the boys it’s been a marathon season and there’s no way that we can lose it on the last mile, having worked so hard to get to where we are.
