SPURRED on by their returning supporters, Keith defeated local rivals Huntly 3-1 to reach the semi final of the Aberdeenshire Cup on Wednesday night.
An early goal from Michael Selfridge and a second half double from Cammy Keith gave the Maroons the win – with Huntly bagging a consolation through Reece McKeown.
Keith will now welcome Fraserburgh to Kynoch Park for the semi final.
Co-manager Andy Roddie praised his side and hopes the cup can provide Keith with a chance to bring silverware to Kynoch Park.
He said: “We played well, got some good goals and could have had a few more. It was a good all round performance.
“Huntly threw bodies forward in the last 10 or 15 minutes but we coped well and saw it out.
“It was a derby and it’s always good to win derbies – but the players certainly played how we wanted them to and credit to them for that. It’s only been a couple of weeks but they’re adapting well.
“The Fraserburgh match is a chance to get to a final. If you want to win trophies you have got to beat the best teams and Fraserburgh are one of those.
“It’s a couple of wins and you have won the cup. Keith is a club that has a good history and it has been a while since we have been challenging for trophies, so it would be nice to do so.”
Roddie had a special word for the fans, who braved freezing temperatures to lend their support on Wednesday.
“It was good to see the fans back,” he added. “The players enjoyed that. We thank the fans for coming on a cold Wednesday and hope they enjoyed the game and the result.”
The Maroons’ home match tomorrow against Nairn County has been postponed with a number of visiting players in self-isolation.
