THUNDER and lightning has put paid to play at Moray Golf Club’s 5-Day Open.

Play was suspended on Wednesday morning during the first round of the matchplay competition.

The stormy conditions began around mid-morning and continued until noon, with all the golfers taken off for their own safety.

A total of 32 players made it through from Monday and Tuesday’s strokeplay qualifiers into the scratch section.

All first round ties in the scratch were scheduled to begin at 1pm but delays are now inevitable due to the weather.

See Friday’s Northern Scot for more results and pictures from the competition.
