McGinlay's big rebuilding job
REBUILDING has been the name of the game for Huntly over the summer.
With five key players all snapped up by big-spending Formartine United – Ross Bremner, Colin Robertson, Stuart Soane, Michael McGinlay and Ross Campbell – boss Dave McGinlay and assistant Jim Cheyne, have had a major job on their hands to find new recruits.
Dan Stewart and Jonathan Clark, both 19, have been signed following their release by Montrose.
Alex Thoirs has also been signed from Dyce Juniors and David Chambers, released by Inverness Caledonian Thistle, is another new face.
Michael Fyfe is also joining from Banks O’ Dee and Neil Davidson has also been recruited from Lewis United.
With new deals agreed with Neil Reid, Russell Guild, Mark Gray and Neil Hastie, McGinlay is happy with the way the squad is coming together.
"We have had to be as prudent as we can because we don’t have a lot of money to play about with.
"We have a lot of young lads coming in with good potential and a good pedigree behind them," he added.
"We are also looking at potentially a couple of loan signings too."
McGinlay admitted the loss of four of the five to Formartine – Bremner had already been transfer listed – was a huge blow, but the club could not compete with the financial muscle of Formartine.
