McGregor magic keeps Bishopmill hopes alive in Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association league.

A SUPERB Alex McGregor performance helped give Bishopmill’s Alexander Wallace indoor bowling league chances of survival a massive lift.

At times McGregor played exhibition bowls en route to winning his match against Burghead 22-5.

Sandy Grant won his match by a single shot playing consistently. Craig Fletcher counted three on the final end for a one-shot victory to put the hosts in a comfortable position. George Fraser made a spirited effort for the coastal club in the final match winning 20 shots to 9 with excellent bowls to ensure two consolation points for the Broch.

Alves kept their title hopes alive with a hard-earned victory over Forres RBL.

Derek Paterson and Ian Grant both played solidly for the visitors in tight matches against Ted Lamsdell and Stuart Robertson, Paterson winning 13-10 and Grant 10-6 for a seven-shot match.

Neil Mathers impressed for the hosts to reduce the arrears to three shots with one match to finish.

Harry Milne had a hard-fought match against Mike Anderson with Milne securing the shot on the final end as Alves won overall by five shots.

Lossie BC and Moray BC were involved in a classic with home side Lossie desperate for a win to help secure their first division status.

The visitors played the key bowls in the first session with George Robb jnr and Steve McKidd winning 10-9 and 13-10.

Lossie kept up their spirits in the second session with George Jack winning four out of the final five ends to win 10-5 as the coastal club took a one-shot advantage.

The Elgin visitors through Ralph Smith squared the overall score heading into the final end, with the last end being blanked so each club took a deserved three points.

Long time leaders Fochabers entertained champions Hopeman, who started the match playing like champions with Euan Main in sublime form winning 18-5.

Sean Dobie equally impressed for Fochabers winning the first nine ends. Hopeman won two of the final three ends as the leaders took a six-shot advantage into the second session.

Keith Thompson looked to cause an upset playing some big bowls at key times to win 12-6. Mark Woodhouse played strongly over the last six ends winning 15-4 to seal another Fochabers victory.

Second Division Fogwatt hosted promotion-chasing Lhanbryde in what proved to be a highly entertaining fixture.

Lex Harley and Andrew Furr both showed good form winning their matches 12-11 for the visitors.

Robert Wildgoose also won a tight contest 10-8, Gordon Wiles continued his recent form with key bowls to win 13-9 for a level match and three points apiece.

Duffus are up to third position after a powerful performance against Birnie.

Jim Donaldson scored an 18-6 success in the first session, and any hope of a Birnie revival were soon diminished with Arthur Morgan winning the first six ends en-route to a 23-6 victory.

Charles Stewart scored a consolation 15-12 win for the visitors.
