Moray athletes strike gold in National Under 17 Relay Championships





A TRIO of Moray athletes have struck gold while company in the National Under 17 Relay Championships.

Moray’s Lauren Abbott, Holly Whittaker and Iris Whitton were joined Tammy Oshinowo from Aberdeen as they won gold in the 4 x 100m National Under 17 Relay.

The quartet were representing Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club.

They qualified as favourites after the heats in a time of 48.83 seconds and later won gold in a time of 48.53 – only 0.22 off the championship best performance.

The championships were held at the Riverside Sports Arena in Ayr.

North Ayrshire AAC came home in second place in 49.25 seconds, with third place going to Law and District AAC who finished in 49.53 seconds.
