The event, which took place at Moray Sports Centre, attracted 189 people from the academy's three groups in Elgin, Lossiemouth and Aberdeen.

There were 14 categories, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded in each.

Kate Sansum, Sansum Martials Arts co-owner, said: "We had just over 600 students and their families attend our first tournament of 2022.

"It was just our students that were involved – but it was amazing.

"We had 60 competitors under the age of seven. It's great to see so many young people involved after Covid.

"For many parents and grandparents it was the first time watching them."
