BUCKIE United showed little mercy to Tomintoul in their quest for Moray welfare title glory.

The coast side netted ten goals in their opening two wins and went clear at the top of the table following a 7-1 success at 'Toul on Friday.

Top scorer Paul Mellon took just two minutes to edge Buckie in front and Evan Smith's 20-yard strike into the bottom conrer doubled the visitors lead on nine minutes.

Tomintoul, who lost their opener 13-0 to FC Fochabers, showed plenty fight and pulled one back from an own goal on 26 minutes.

A home penalty claim was then turned down after John Reid went down in the box, and instead of a chance to go level, 'Toul went further behind when Declan Clark scored before the break.

Mellon got his second to make it 4-1 and there were chances at both ends with 'Toul keeper Matthew Easton again performing heroics.

Buckie sub Jordan Gerrie put the game to bed with two goals in a five-minute spell, closely followed by another from William Morrison to finish it off at 7-1.

There was a Lossiemouth derby at the airbase, with RAF Lossie playing their first match against Lossiemouth FC's youth team.

After a close first quarter to the match, Lossie Youths took the lead when Branford Edgar snapped up a chance.

The servicemen responded with a spell of pressure leading to an equaliser when Henry Jordan's near post corner was met by a brave Ryan O'Halloran header to score.

Jordan then reacted to being fouled with a bout of retaliation and RAF Lossiemouth were down to ten men before the break.

The Youths started the second half well but were hit on the counter-attack down the right and Cammy Newton fired a wonderful finish across the goal into the top corner to put the RAF men in front for the first time.

They stayed in front until ten minutes from time when offside pleas were waved away and Edgar latched on to a ball over the top to beat keeper Danny Jarps and make it 2-2.

RAF Lossie were eager to claim all three points and they managed to do so from a piece of magic by Logan Buick.

Buick ran at a defender and managed to back-heel the ball through his legs before cutting inside to fire past the keeper for a fine individual goal and victory for the ten men.

Friday's results:

Cullen 3 Aberlour Villa 4

Portsoy 1 FC Fochabers 5

RAF Lossiemouth 3 Lossie Youths 2

Tomintoul 1 Buckie United 7

Fochabers bounced back from their defeat at Buckie with a 5-1 success away to Portsoy.

It was 'Soy who created the first chance as Declan McKay broke down the left and crossed for Nathan Cowie, who couldn't keep his shot down.

Cowie fired another home chance wide soon afterwards, before Fochabers settled into the game with Sean Petrie going close.

It was Petrie who broke the deadlock with a tap-in following a defensive mix-up.

Portsoy were contributing to their own downfall and another error was punished by Andrew Walker to make it 2-0.

A slick Fochabers move down the left was finished off by Warren Orford for his fifth goal of the season.

Portsoy needed the half time whistle by this stage but conceded another, Stuart Harrold finishing from a defence-splitting pass.

The home side regained their composure in the second half and created some chances of their own.

However the next goal was again for the visitors, Harrold notching his second.

Portsoy did get a consolation goal in the last ten minutes when Dylan Dawson's shot was deflected up in the air for Lewis Edward to head in his second of the campaign.

There was plenty of drama at Logie Park, as Aberlour Villa made the trip to Cullen looking to add to their opening day win over Portsoy.

Even play emerged, with the opening goal coming from the penalty spot with Aberlour's David Blackhall converting.

Good counter-attacking earned Villa a second goal which Barry Grant scored from close range.

When Blackhall fired home from the edge of the box to cap a good Aberlour first half, Cullen's challenge looked forlorn.

But the second half was a tale of role reversal, with the home side well on top.

They blew a chance to reduce the deficit when Kieran Ferguson blazed a penalty over the bar.

But when Cullen were awarded the game's third spot kick following a desperate lunge in the box, Scott Mair took on the responsibility and made no mistake.

That kick-started a home comeback, with Saul Phimister soon making it 3-2 after breaking through on goal.

Villa were on the ropes and Phimister turned provider by setting up Marcus Flett to score and level up a thrilling contest.

With Cullen now pushing for a dramatic win, it would be Aberlour with the sting in the tail.

With a few minutes to go substitute Marcus Murray latched on to a long ball, with his blocked effort falling kindly back into his path for a tap-in to seal a dramatic win.
