New head coach at Inverness Caley Thistle announced as Duncan Ferguson leaves club

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed Scott Kellacher has been promoted to head coach following Duncan Ferguson being axed as manager of the club.

The club have confirmed that Kellacher, who was first team coach, has been appointed to the role following Ferguson’s departure earlier this afternoon.

Ferguson, along with assistant manager Gary Bollan and goalkeeping coach Stuart Garden have all left the club today after Inverness Caledonian Thistle officially went into administration last night.

BDO have been appointed administrators for the financially struggling League One club with Malcolm Cohen, Shane Crooks and James Stephen appointed as the joint administrators to handle the case.

A statement from Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Wednesday afternoon said: “Inverness Caledonian Thistle can confirm that manager Duncan Ferguson, assistant manager Gary Bollan and goalkeeping coach Stuart Garden have left the club with immediate effect following the ongoing review of the financial position with the joint administrators.

The club would like to place on record our thanks to Duncan, Gary and Stuart for their efforts while at Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and wish them the very best in the future.

“Scott Kellacher, first team coach, is stepping up to take over as first team head coach with immediate effect. A full update on first team coaching staff going forward will be made in due course.”

BDO will be holding an official press conference on Thursday detailing their plans for the administration process as Caley Thistle attempt to get out of financial trouble.

Ferguson was appointed as manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle in September last year when he took over from former manager Billy Dodds.

However, he was unable to prevent them being relegated from the Championship, after they finished in ninth place.

They then lost the Championship play-off final 5-3 on aggregate to Hamilton Academical which saw them relegated to League One.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle were deducted 15 points after going into administration on Tuesday night which saw them drop to the bottom of the table on -3.

They are 12 points behind Dumbarton in ninth place, who Inverness are due to travel to on Saturday.

Ferguson had been working for free after deciding to give up his wage earlier this month to help the club’s financial troubles.
