Club treasurer James Wallace has called on the SFA to be more decisive on the rest of the season for football at League One level and below.

He says the SFA should make a decision on whether clubs will require testing to carry on the season or call an end to all competitions that are currently affected by suspensions.

The North Junior Region outfit announced this week they were pulling out of all competitions in the current campaign due to the impact of coronavirus, as well as the uncertainty of playing football again this season.

Wallace criticised the SFA for not taking more decisive action, saying clubs are at a point where they have to know what is required to resume playing football or be told that they will not play again this season.

“The lack of leadership shown by the football authorities has been poor from the SFA downwards,” says Wallace.

“They should be making the decision that the Scottish Government have told them this what we’re allowed to do and if clubs have to carry out testing.

“All we’ve heard is they hope they can get back to playing and maybe play the Scottish Cup. The Scottish Junior Cup from last season is still to be finished.

“The leadership from the very top has been non-existent and rudderless.

“They should step up and say if you want to play football you have to test players or everything has to go into abeyance.

“Nobody wants to make a decision, but we decided to stop playing as it is the right thing to do.

“Competitions that are affected by suspension should be ruled null and void.”

The SFA announced they will carry out a review on the rest of the campaign for lower league football on Monday, March 1.
